McAfee names ex-EMC executive as new CEO

Digg! Slashdot Slashdot It!

After going five months without a permanent chief executive, McAfee on Monday named Dave DeWalt to be its new president and CEO.

DeWalt is scheduled to start on April 2 and is also expected to be appointed to the McAfee board of directors, McAfee said in a statement. Most recently, DeWalt was president of customer operations and content management software for EMC.

McAfee has had a number of executive changes in the wake of a probe into its stock option practices. The company has been without a permanent CEO since October, when George Samenuk resigned and Kevin Weiss, then president, was ousted. Dale Fuller has since served as interim chief executive and president.

DeWalt has more than 20 years of experience in the technology industry, including in engineering, product management, marketing and sales management positions. He was CEO at Documentum, a content management company acquired by EMC.
