PS3 (By Sony)

Hi everyone is excited for the PS3 do you have any comments for it. I think it is great look at the following websites for reviews about it The PlayStation 3 is due out November 17, 2006 in North America (Japan gets it about a week earlier, while Europe and Australia won't see it until March 2007) in two different configurations: the $600 model comes with a 60GB hard drive and built-in wireless networking and $500 for the version with a 20GB hard drive but was added in September. Good side: The console's built-in Blu-ray drive seems like a bargain compared to the stand-alone Blu-ray players, which priced at $1,000. Every PlayStation 3 will come with an HDMI port, which guarantees high-def playback of Blu-Ray movies and PS3 games. Blu-ray discs can hold 50GB and can theoretically go to 100GB or 200GB, the Microsoft Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii use standard DVD allowing only 8.5GB. PlayStation 3 will be powered by ballyhooed Cell processor, a 3.2GHz chip that Sony developed with help from IBM and Toshiba. You'll be able to play your PlayStation and PlayStation 2 games on the PlayStation 3.

BAD side: $500 or $600 is reasonable for a Blu-ray player, but it's twice the price of PS2 and $200 more than the core and high-end Xbox 360 models. The $500 model will not have built-in Wi-Fi and built-in flash-memory reader. Microsoft released a bare-bones Xbox 360 Core System, a version that was easily upgradable to the exact same specs as the more expensive deluxe version with the purchase of a few accessories.

Sony will be joining Nintendo and Microsoft in the microtransaction market. Nintendo's Virtual Console has garnered an unprecedented amount of hype, and the Xbox Live Marketplace is one of the surprise success stories of the Xbox 360. On the good side, unlike Microsoft, Sony has indicated that its online service will be free for online competition.

Launch allocations has been and will be a major problem for Sony . The company set a precedent by chopping initial shipments of the PlayStation 2 in half roughly a month before the console's release, and Microsoft's Xbox 360 faced similar shortages.

Overall: This time, PS3 seems to have the technological edge, but Xbox 360 will have a 12-month head start in the marketplace.

Less than one hour after the pre-order process had begun, the company posted a message that its supply was gone. But note some people who got the pre-order ticket has already sold their ticket to other people.

But if you are desperate for a PS3 and were not able to pre-order a console, there's always Ebay . "Buy now" prices ranged from about $1200 to $2500 at the time of this writing. At least that includes free overnight shipping in most cases.

Last month, Sony announced that it was cutting the worldwide launch allocation of the PS3 from an original 2 million to just 500,000 units. 400,000 units are promised to ship to the U.S.
